ShelterCare, a local nonprofit that helps families who are homeless and adults with mental illness or brain injury, said two of its staff have been honored with community awards. Executive director, Susan Ban, received the Murnane Social Justice Award from Catholic Community Services of Lane County, Inc., and the Turtle Award from the City Club of Eugene. Clinical supervisor, Chris Steele, received the Heart of Social Work award from the social work department at Portland State University.
