 BUSH INDUSTRIES REPORTS FOURTH QUARTER/YEAR-END GAINS;
 EXPECTS FIRST QUARTER RESULTS
 JAMESTOWN, N.Y., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Bush Industries, Inc. (AMEX: BSH), a leading manufacturer of ready-to-assemble (RTA) and casegoods furniture, today reported gains in sales and income for the fourth quarter and year ended Dec. 28, 1991.
 Net income for the fourth quarter rose 65 percent to $1,047,000 or 23 cents per share from net income of $636,000 or 14 cents per share for the same period of the prior year. Net sales for the period climbed 10 percent to $36,892,000 from $33,467,000 for the like period of 1990.
 Net income for the full year rose 41 percent to $2,405,000 or 53 cents per share from $1,708,000 or 38 cents per share for 1990. Net sales for 1991 increased 15 percent to $126,459,000 from $110,336,000 for the year earlier.
 "The results were in line with our projections and are reflective of the investments we made in the last couple of years for marketing and operational enhancements at the expense of near-term earnings," Paul Bush, chairman and chief executive officer, said,
 "We anticipate results for the first quarter of 1992 will be better than the same period last year when we earned $158,000 or three cents per share on sales of $26,581,000. While we continue to operate in a soft economic climate, we remain optimistic that we will achieve strong second half results as we did in 1991," he concluded.
