BUS-VAN ACCIDENT LEAVES 9 INJURED.

Nine people, including five children, were hurt Wednesday afternoon when a Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987.  driven by Rebecca Hilyard, 22, sheriff's Deputy Robert Smoldt said. Bus driver Douglas Illg, 54, turned left from Cinema Drive onto Bouquet Canyon Road in front of the mini-van, Smoldt said.

The children and the two drivers, as well as the two passengers aboard the bus - visiting from British Columbia - were taken to three hospitals for injuries described as minor to moderate, Scott said.

The children were properly restrained in the van, Scott added.
