BUS SHUTTLES SOON TO LAUNCH FREE TRANSIT PROGRAM WILL RUN TWICE A WEEK FOR 1 YEAR.

ACTON - A yearlong experimental program starts next week to offer shuttle buses two days a week between Acton, Agua Dulce Agua Dulce is Spanish for "sweet water". It also refers to various locations:

  • Agua Dulce, El Paso County, Texas

The free shuttle will gauge the need for permanent public transit services from the rural communities to the Santa Clarita Valley and will be financed by Supervisor Michael Antonovich's Proposition A Transit funds, officials said.

Service is scheduled to begin Jan. 6. The shuttles will stop at the Acton McDonald's, on Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. It runs from Tunnel Station near the north limit of the City of Los Angeles, where it intersects with San Fernando Road and Foothill Boulevard, as well as Interstate 5, and continues north to Mojave, mostly paralleling  at Crown Valley Road, and at the Agua Dulce Women's Club Women’s clubs first arose in the United States during the post-civil war period. As a result of increased leisure time due to modern household advances, middle class women had more time to engage in intellectual pursuits.  on Agua Dulce Canyon Road south of Sierra Highway.

Residents older than 60 or disabled can arrange to be picked up at home and dropped off at their destinations if they call 24 hours in advance, county officials said.

The shuttle service is free for passengers during the one-year demonstration program. If the service is continued, a fare will be charged, officials said.

The shuttle will only operate on Mondays and Wednesday, with one bus each way in the morning and one bus each way in the afternoon. The shuttle departs Santa Clarita at 10:40 a.m. and returns to Agua Dulce about 11 or 11:15 a.m. and to Acton about 11:30 a.m.

The afternoon shuttle departs the Acton McDonald's at 2:15 p.m. and Agua Dulce at 2:40 p.m. It arrives in Santa Clarita at 3 p.m.

The afternoon bus departs Santa Clarita at 3:40 p.m., arrives in Agua Dulce about 4 to 4:15 p.m. and in Acton about 4:30 p.m.

Curb-to-curb service for the elderly and disabled can be scheduled by calling (661) 259-9444. First-time riders must show identification to the driver to verify their age. Physicians letters may be necessary for people whose disabilities are not apparent, officials said.
