BURST OF GREENWOOD FORWARD'S SCORING, SPEED BOOST Q.H.'S REPEAT CHANCES.

Greenwood's emergence as one of the hottest members of the Quartz Hill High girls' soccer team's offense sparked the Rebels to a championship at last week's Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  tournament and has Quartz Hill optimistic op·ti·mist

Perhaps most valuable is Greenwood's deception deception n. the act of misleading another through intentionally false statements or fraudulent actions. (See: fraud, deceit) .

``She has a surprise shot,'' Cauchon said. ``You don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

Greenwood scored a team-high three goals in four games at the Simi Valley tournament, including one in a 3-1 victory over Westridge of Pasadena in the final.

Greenwood is a third-year varsity player, but before this season many of her biggest accomplishments were with the track and field team, for which she advanced to the Southern Section meet as a sprinter.

``She just really has come on strong this year,'' Cauchon said. ``She did a real good job at the tournament.''

The role of leading scorer feels a bit unusual to Greenwood.

``I just like to have fun playing,'' she said. ``I don't count (the goals). I have no idea how many I ever score.''

Greenwood, who has played soccer almost her entire life as she followed in the footsteps of two older brothers who played at Quartz Hill, attributes much of her improvement simply to experience. However, she admits to wanting to contribute more now that she is one of the team's veterans.

``I feel like you have to have more responsibility, setting an example being older,'' Greenwood said. ``Now that I'm older, I try to be someone they can look up to.''
