The Indians put themselves in position to earn a possible wild-card spot as the fourth team out of the Foothill League. Burroughs ran just 27 offensive plays but made them count, and it's biggest play came on defense. A big second half brought the Bulldogs, who trailed by 12 points at halftime, just 12 yards from taking the lead early in the fourth quarter. But on a first-down play, quarterback Paul Escobar fumbled an option pitch attempt and Burroughs' Gabriel Moise Jr. returned it 88 yards for the touchdown and a 32-21 lead. Burroughs later secured the victory on a 50-yard run by Michael Perez. ``At halftime, we talked about how we needed to make big plays to win the game, and that's what we did,'' Burroughs coach Keith Knoop said. The Indians already had made two big plays in the first half. Burroughs threw just three passes in the first half but completed two for big scores, and even worse for the Bulldogs, the touchdowns came after long, impressive Burbank drives. Burbank tied the game at 14 after a 11-play, 80-yard drive midway through the second quarter, but Burroughs took the lead back for good on the first play of its ensuing en·sue intr.v. en·sued, en·su·ing, en·sues 1. With 52 seconds remaining in the half, the Indians scored when backup quarterback Lee Pettit hit Michael Perez on a slant over the middle. Perez broke one tackle at midfield and completed an 80-yard scoring pass for a 26-14 Burroughs halftime lead. The Bulldogs could not manage much offense in the first half beyond Baker, a bruising bruising discoloration and actual hemorrhage at the site of injury, and a serious disadvantage in the meat trade.
