Since taking over the girls' basketball team at Burroughs High School, however, rival Hart has walked away with all the trophies.

Hart entered the season having won 30 of its last 31 Foothill League games, the only loss coming to Nicol and Burroughs last season.

And Nicol believed he had just the winning script for his team's league opener on Tuesday night, but the defending champions defending champion n (SPORT) → defensor/a m/f del título

quickly took center stage and held on for a 51-46 victory in Burbank.

Burroughs (9-7, 0-1) opened the game in a 2-3 zone defense, hoping to control the inside game of Hart's Candace Boller and Jaclyn Kuptz and to force Hart to the outside.

the game plan, Hart had taken a 12-point third-quarter lead - and Boller and Kuptz were still getting their chances.

It also didn't help that Burroughs made only 6 of 18 free throws and committed 19 turnovers.

"I took us out of the game by changing defenses," Nicol said. "And we made a lot of nervous mistakes. Against a well-coached team, you can't make mistakes."

Boller was almost flawless for Hart (10-7, 1-0), which improved its league win streak to eight games. The junior center had 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Kuptz scored nine points and Wendy Downen added eight points, eight rebounds and four steals.

Hart still led 45-33 with three minutes "Three Minutes" is the 46th episode of Lost. It is the twenty-second episode of the second season. Chantel Jimenez came off the bench to lead Burroughs with nine points, including a key 3-pointer during the Indians' fourth-quarter run. Teammate Joyce Lau added eight points, while Janelle Simon and Erika Huber each scored seven.

But there was no happy ending for host Burroughs, considered to be Hart's No. 1 challenger for the league title.

That was OK with Hart coach Dave Munroe, who would much rather watch a repeat than a new show anyway.

"We're a good team," he said. "To come into Burroughs and win, you've got to be tough. That's a big W for us to start the league season."
