Burrell said she was disappointed because she came to Athenswanting to be on the podium ``very badly.''

Burrell had to make up at least 12 seconds on Sotherton in theconcluding 800 meters. But the Brit made sure that did not happen bysetting a personal record to win in 2 minutes, 12.27 seconds. Burrellwas fifth, in 2:15.32.

``So close, but no cigar, huh?'' said Burrell, who won bronze at the 2001 world championships. ``Man. That was pretty intense, once again.''

She said she would not be back in four years.

``I'm a two-time Olympian,'' Burrell said. ``I was 24th in Sydney, I'm fourth here, and I made it through an injury, and I made it through fighting, so I leave with my head lifted high.''
