 BURNS AEROSPACE CORPORATION TO MAKE
 ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY AND STAFF CHANGES
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Burns Aerospace Corporation of Winston-Salem said today that it is making administrative policy and staff changes following the resignation last week of G.B. Jewell as president and chief executive officer.
Richard N. Burger, who was named acting president of Burns Feb. 6, said that staffing and procedure changes will be made during the next two weeks. "These changes will position us for steady growth in the future," said Burger, an executive vice president since 1985.
In the last two years, Burns has become the largest manufacturer and marketer of seating for the commercial aviation industry, according to Burger. The company designs and makes seats and seat components in Winston-Salem and at its plant in Los Angeles and refurbishes all brands of seats at both locations.
Burns has increased its employment in Winston-Salem by more than 50 percent since 1989 and now has 750 workers at its facility on Fairchild Drive here.
Eagle Industries, Burns' parent company, located in Chicago, has invested more than $5 million in the Winston-Salem facility in the last two years. Burns now has one of the most advanced high-speed machining facilities on the East Coast. The most recent commitment by Eagle Industries is for a $1 million dynamic testing laboratory that is scheduled to open in Winston-Salem in May.
