 BURNETT TO RETIRE AS MEREDITH CHAIRMAN;
 REHM NAMED CHAIRMAN, PRESIDENT, CEO
 DES MOINES, Iowa, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Meredith Corp. (NYSE: MDP) board of directors today named Jack D. Rehm chairman of its board, effective July 1, 1992. Rehm, who will succeed Robert A. Burnett when he steps down as chairman at the company's fiscal year end, will retain the titles of president and chief executive officer. Burnett, 64, will remain a Meredith Corp. board member and work as a consultant to the company under a three-year contract.
 "This change is part of a long-term transition strategy that has been in place at Meredith for several years," Burnett said. "Jack is ideally qualified for his new position. He has demonstrated extremely strong leadership and outstanding capabilities in all areas of management in his 30 years with the corporation."
 Before being named president and CEO, Rehm, 59, held a number of positions with the company, including chief operating officer, executive vice president-corporate services and president of the company's Publishing Group.
 "I look forward to continuing the success Bob Burnett created for Meredith," Rehm said. "Under Bob's leadership as president and CEO, Meredith revenues grew from $140 million to almost $750 million. We experienced phenomenal growth under his guidance. Our management philosophy will continue to be based on an entrepreneurial approach at all levels of our operations."
 Burnett's retirement as chairman caps a 40-year career with Meredith that began with his first job as an advertising sales trainee with Better Homes and Gardens magazine. Burnett and his wife Gloria will reside in Des Moines and Carefree, Ariz.
