BURNED MAN ARRESTED IN ARSON CASE.Byline: Bhavna Mistry Daily News Staff Writer A 38-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of attempted murder by arson at a Valencia town house, sheriff's officials said. Sheriff's deputies said Nathaniel Garner of Los Angeles burned his legs while setting fire to a porch and a front door of the town house in the 24100 block of Delmonte Drive shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, deputies said. ``He attempted to murder an individual by burning his house down with gasoline,'' said Detective Edward Nordskog of the Arson/Explosives Detail of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. An off-duty California Highway Patrol officer who lives in the neighborhood said he saw a man running from the flames and chased him through the housing complex, officials said, but the suspect got away. Sheriff's deputies futilely searched the complex. Twelve hours later, Garner was arrested at a Denny's restaurant in Newhall. ``He matched the description of our suspect,'' Nordskog said. ``He had no idea where he was. He was two miles away and was confused. ``He had admitted to coming up here to do the job. This individual did not know the victim,'' Nordskog said. Garner was being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in lieu of $1 million bail, officials said. Officials were searching for three other suspects. |
