SOH is owned and operated by Prime Healthcare Services, Inc. , a spokesman said.

``Both remain on respirators. Not much has changed, which is what we expected - and therefore, that's good news,'' hospital spokesman Larry Weinberg said.

``It takes a long time to get better from these kind of injuries, and that's why any dramatic change is not for the good.''

Surgeons are scheduled to operate on Shawn Williams, 17, today to remove dead and dying tissue from the burns that cover 43 percent of his body, Weinberg said. Doctors also will insert a scope through his mouth and into his airways to assess the seriousness of the burns inside his lungs.

Patrick Crawford, 7, is tentatively scheduled for similar surgery Monday, if he has stabilized enough to cope with the procedures. He had third-degree burns over 65 percent of his body.

The boys, who are half-brothers, were receiving treatment to keep their major organs functioning, Weinberg said.

``We're keeping them quiet, comfortable and stable,'' he said.

Four people were injured in the blaze, which broke out about 8:15 a.m. Thursday at 29016 Val Verde Road in the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. Martin, who suffered second- and third-degree burns over 18 percent of her body, was listed in critical condition in the burn intensive care unit. She had burns to her arms and back and was suffering from smoke inhalation, hospital spokeswoman Adelaide DeLaCerda said.

Carter was listed in fair condition with a fractured ankle, DeLaCerda said.
