``It appears these items were taken from numerous burglaries,'' said Sgt. Donald Downton. ``There (was) a whole lot of stuff here.''

Officials said that members of the ring had broken into 10 cars parked at the Holiday Inn in Palmdale on Wednesday night, hit an additional four Thursday night and are suspected of committing additional burglaries.

Found in a room at the nearby Motel 6, which the suspects had been renting for five days, were dozens of cellular phones, a computer, stereos, guitars, pencil sharpeners Noun 1. pencil sharpener - a rotary implement for sharpening the point on pencils

Sheriff's deputies also found a gun that had been stolen in an earlier burglary.

The investigation didn't come as a surprise to the Motel 6 manager, who had become suspicious of the renters' actions.

``I was getting ready to kick them out,'' said June Everhart, manager. ``They were getting so many phone calls and different people had been coming and going.''

Everhart said she did not see anyone bring any of the merchandise into the rooms.

Deputy Steve Gutierrez said he was led Friday to a home in Palmdale during his investigation of the auto burglaries.

Later that day, another person arrived at the home and led deputies to a room at the Palmdale Motel 6, where additional suspects and merchandise were discovered.

``It just happened to be that everyone decided to come say hello when we did,'' said Downton. ``We were able to catch them as they showed up.''

Those arrested are expected to be charged on suspicion of burglary and receiving stolen property, officials said.

``We have more than 20 victims, and who knows how many more there are,'' Gutierrez said.
