BURBANK SEEKS HELP FROM GLENDALE RESIDENTS IN AIRPORT FIGHT.

Hoping Glendale residents will be more sympathetic than their elected leaders, the Burbank City Council today will send mailers to 36,000 Glendale voters asking for support in the fight against the expansion of Burbank Airport.

to another, but for better or for worse, we're in this together,'' said Burbank City Manager Bud Ovrom. ``Glendale residents are concerned about neighborhood protection. They may think hey if I'm concerned about my neighborhood, I understand why these people in Burbank are concerned about theirs.''

The letter includes a two-page explanation of Burbank's concerns and is signed by members of the Burbank City Council.

It also includes a business reply card in which Glendale residents can affirm their support for talks between Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena. Glendale has 190,000 residents, but the mailing will only be sent to 36,000 registed voters. Burbank is spending about $26,000 on the mailing, Ovrom said.

Some poisons can be deadly in minute quantities, others only if relatively large amounts are involved.  the cooperative relationship between out two cities.''

The city councils from each city appoint three commissioners each to the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, a seperate governmental entity created by the Legislature to oversee the operations of the airport.

The Glendale and Pasadena commissioners support an expansion, citing the benefits a larger terminal will have on the regional economy. Burbank officials are opposed because of constant complaints from residents about jet noise, traffic and pollution.

The mailing comes just days before Glendale's April 1 election at which three members of the Glendale City Council are up for re-election.
