was stabbed Monday in an alley near Burbank High. He was hospitalized after being stabbed in the shoulder and his injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

``Events like this, because of their tragic nature, put kids on edge,'' said Burbank High Principal Bruce Osgood. ``We want to make sure we have more people out and about so we can talk to the kids, so we can counsel them through it, so we can keep anything from going crazy here.''

The stabbing occurred about 3:15 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of Harvard Road near the southeast corner of Burbank High, Burbank police Sgt. Jay Jette said. An 18-year-old man also suffered minor injuries in the fight and was not hospitalized. No arrests have been made.

Jette said the cause of the incident is murky, but the stabbing victim might have been trying to break up a fight, possibly involving Armenians and Latinos.

Osgood said the meeting went well, that none of his students were involved in the fracas and everyone was getting along.

``They hugged each other at the end and said, `We want you to know there's still love between us. We're not angry with each other. This isn't a Latino-Armenian thing,''' he said.

Meanwhile, some students and their parents were worried.

``I can't believe it. These young people. They're crazy,'' said Alfred Hayrapet, 58, as he waited in his car Wednesday outside Burbank High to pick up his son. ``Mom is worried too much. ... This is scary scar·y
