BURBANK ADOPTS PLAN TO SAVE HISTORIC SITES.

The City Council unanimously approved the most comprehensive plan affecting city historic preservation Historic preservation is the act of maintaining and repairing existing historic materials and the retention of a property's form as it has evolved over time. When considering the United States Department of Interior's interpretation: "Preservation calls for the existing form,  since the Burbank Heritage Commission was created five years ago, officials said Wednesday.

The 34-page plan offers ways top city officials can facilitate more historic preservation in Burbank.

The plan approved by the council Tuesday calls for the city to pass the Mills Act, which would make preservation more financially attractive to property owners.

The council spelled out its intention to revise the General Plan to include policies, goals and objectives that encourage historic preservation.

The Heritage Commission will play an active role in the environmental review process of historic properties.

The commission got help from the Burbank Historical Society, the Los Angeles Conservancy The Los Angeles Conservancy is the preeminent historic preservation organization in Los Angeles, California. It works to document, rescue and revitalize historic buildings, places and neighborhoods in the city.  and other organizations in assembling the plan.

The Heritage Commission also expects to work more closely with the city Planning city planning, process of planning for the improvement of urban centers in order to provide healthy and safe living conditions, efficient transport and communication, adequate public facilities, and aesthetic surroundings.  Commission to encourage preservation of historic city structures a regular part of the planning process.
