Soccer: The Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  Youth Soccer League is making plans for the fall season.

Play starts in early September. Registrations are available and can be turned in at Play-It-Again Sports, Lewis Sporting Goods Noun 1. sporting goods - sports equipment sold as a commodity

sports equipment - equipment needed to participate in a particular sport
 and Soccer Connection, all in Simi Valley.

There will also be registration in front of Target (Simi Valley) on July 31.

Sport Camps: The Rancho Simi Rancho San José de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi is one of the land grants in California by the Spanish government. The name derives from Shimiji, the name of the Chumash village here before the Spanish.  Recreation and Park District is offering the following youth camps this coming Monday through Friday:

Coach Mike Kohl will conduct a basketball camp for girls grades 3-9. The camp is located at the Rancho ran·cho

1. A hut or group of huts for housing ranch workers.

2. A ranch.
 Santa Susana Santa Susana can refer to several places:
  • The Santa Susana Mountains in southern California
  • Santa Susana Pass, running through the abovementioned mountains
  • Santa Susana Field Laboratory, near Los Angeles, a test facility for rockets and (formerly) nuclear reactors
 Community Center from 1-5 p.m. The cost is $55.

 ages 9-12 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Rancho Simi Community Park. The cost is $75; fee includes a soccer ball and T-shirt.

Coach Dean Borth will conduct a volleyball camp for boys and girls grades 4-9 at the Rancho Santa Susana Community Center. The camp runs from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. daily. The cost is $55 per camper.

Wrestling Camp: Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California.  is hosting a wrestling camp Aug. 3-5 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily.

The cost is $35 per day or $90 all sessions.

The camp will be run by Moorpark College head coach Paul Keysaw.

Soccer Camp: The City of Calabasas Community Services Department is sponsoring Zoran's Youth Soccer Camps for players ages 5-15 during August.

The camp will be held at Oak View High in Oak Park, Aug. 9-13 and 23-27, and at Creekside Park in Calabasas, Aug. 16-20.

Full-day sessions from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. or half-day sessions from 9 a.m.-noon are offered. The camps are open to all players who want to improve their skills.

All camps are directed by Zoran Lomic, a former European pro soccer player.

Baseball Camp: The Simi Youth Baseball League will be hosting the Reggie Smith
    Carl Reginald Smith (born April 2, 1945 in Shreveport, Louisiana) is a former Major League Baseball outfielder, coach and front office executive. During a 17-year big league career (1967-1982), Smith appeared in 1,987 games, hit 314 home runs and batted .287.
     Baseball Camps.

    The camps will run Aug. 9-13 and Aug. 16-20 for boys and girls ages 7 to 18 years old.

    Camp runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily. Players receive a Reggie Smith Baseball Center T-shirt and a catered lunch each day.

    The cost for each session is $295, with a portion of the proceeds coming back to Simi Youth Baseball.

    Summer Camps: The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is sponsoring summer sports camps for boys and girls of all ages.

    The Hot Tot Hoops Camps run five consecutive Saturdays through Aug. 7 for boys and girls ages 5-6 (at 9 a.m.) and 7-8 (at 10 a.m.).

    The Hot Shot Baseball Camp for boys and girls ages 5-7 meets Tuesday and Thursdays through Aug. 5.

    The flag football camp for boys ages 9-12 runs from Aug. 9-13.

    The baseball camp runs from Aug. 2-6 for youths ages 6-12.

    Basketball: The Conejo Recreation and Park District open basketball program has returned to Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  High. Basketball players of all ages and ability levels are invited to play pick-up games.

    There is no admission or registration.

    The gym will be open Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26.

    Volleyball: Moorpark College coach Steve Burkhart and his staff will direct the eighth annual Moorpark College volleyball camp.

    The camp runs this coming Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-noon daily.

    The cost is $95. Registration is open to boys and girls entering grades 6 through 11.
