BULLDOZERS TO GO IN ON YOBS' Local; End of era at Dog and Gun.Byline: By LUKE TRAYNOR A NOTORIOUS Liverpool pub which has become a target for gangs and drug dealers is to be demolished. The badly vandalised Dog and Gun in Croxteth has remained derelict derelict n. something or someone who is abandoned, such as a ship left to drift at sea or a homeless person ignored by family and society. (See: abandon, dereliction) DERELICT, common law. since it was closed down three years ago. After a catalogue of complaints from residents, the go-ahead has been given for the bulldozers to move in. Liverpool council has obtained a planning order 1. An order issued by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) to initiate execution planning. The planning order will normally follow a commander's estimate and a planning order will normally take the place of the CJCS alert order. that will allow the building in Carr Lane to be demolished. Contractors have been chosen and have visited the site to start disconnecting the power lines. The pub owners have 28 days to appeal against the decision, but the premises could be gone before the New Year. Today, local councillors welcomed the move and said the empty Dog and Gun had created an eyesore eye·sore n. Frequent arson attacks were made on the building and thieves stole lead from the roof. Residents made regular complaints about the pub being spray-painted and rubbish being dumped outside. "It's a substantial piece of land and I hope this can now be bought by a developer and bring investment into the area. It's a constant cause of concern to local residents, who have witnessed the demise of whatwas once their local pub." The Dog and Gun was closed by magistrates in 2004 after police compiled a dossier of complaints linked to the pub, including guns and drugs being hidden around the premises.
