as a sophomore. Schneider returned for his senior season and appears better than ever.

Schneider, wrestling in the 112-pound division, was among five Highland wrestlers who went undefeated in the Southern Section Division IV dual-meet championships on Saturday.

They helped lift the Bulldogs to the championship with a 35-29 victory over Bishop Amat in the final at Santiago High in Garden Grove Garden Grove, city (1990 pop. 143,050), Orange co., S Calif., a suburb of Long Beach and Los Angeles, on the Santa Ana River; founded 1877, inc. 1956. Highland (35-4) breezed to the final, defeating Redondo 51-24 in the first round and posting 47-21 and 46-12 victories over Yucca Valley and Charter Oak.

``The team was doing so well, I wanted to be a part of a winning team,'' Schneider said. ``We wanted CIF (1) (Common Intermediate Format) A standard video format used in videoconferencing. The original CIF is also known as Full CIF (FCIF).  for years and never were able to do it. We worked real hard and I prayed. I am graduating a CIF champion with a gold ring.''

Schneider, the Golden League runner-up and Highland tournament champion, will get a chance to add more jewelry to his collection in the Southern Section Division IV individual championships Friday and Saturday at Santiago High.

``He showed a lot of promise as a sophomore, but it's been harder for him because he's fallen behind without the extra year of wrestling,'' Highland coach Mike Young said. ``He's done a lot for us this year at 112.''

Young is banking on Schneider and the Bulldogs' strength in the lower-weight classes to help Highland improve upon last year's fourth-place finish in the individual championships. In all, the Bulldogs have qualified 11 wrestlers.
