BUILDING LEADERS FOUR CHOSEN TO REPRESENT 'TOP 40 UNDER 40' PROGRAM.

 were selected to represent the Top 40 Under 40 during the San Fernando San Fernando, city, Argentina
San Fernando (săn fərnăn`dō), city (1991 pop. 144,761), Buenos Aires prov., E Argentina. It is a district administrative center in the Greater Buenos Aires area.
 Business Journal Awards Night held Aug. 10 in Woodland Hills.

Brian Koegle of Poole and Shaffery; Jenny Ketchepaw of Telesis; Paul De La Cerda of Providence Providence, city (1990 pop. 160,728), state capital and seat of Providence co., NE R.I., a port at the head of Providence Bay; founded by Roger Williams 1636, inc. as a city 1832.  Health Systems-Holy Cross Foundation; and April Price of DiFatta Graphics were honored during the ceremony.

The Top 40 Under 40 program was initiated three years ago by the editorial staff at the Business Journal to recognize excellence and community involvement.

``We started this program to find new people who had innovative ideas on how to get things accomplished in the business world and who were interested in giving back to their communities,'' said Jayson Schaff, Journal editor.

Each Top 40 winner received a certificate of recognition during the awards ceremony and was also profiled in the Journal's Aug. 15 edition. Schaff said he was impressed im·press 1

``The Leadership SCV candidates were more well-rounded, already involved in their community, involved in networking and interested in improving their community as a whole,'' he said. ``You can build a great business, but it's important to go beyond that and give back to the community.''

The Leadership SCV program is designed by the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Chamber of Commerce and College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  to ensure that a number of emerging leaders are prepared to assume future leadership roles in the community.

``The skills and education that I obtained in the Leadership SCV program have allowed me to refine my professional and civic goals, and have instilled a confidence that has encouraged me to become a stronger, more active leader within the community,'' said Koegle.

Included in the program are visits to the City Council boardroom and judicial infrastructure, discussions with experts and interaction with local business and government leaders.

 Business Journal's 40 Under 40 awards has been such an incredible honor,'' said Ketchepaw. ``The work I did in Leadership SCV prepared me to be worthy of such an accolade.''
