By now, we should all have known how this was going to end.

Woods, making his season debut, fired a 6-under 66 in Sunday's final round at Torrey Pines Torrey Pines can refer to:

to win the Buick Invitational for the fourth time. Woods beat his friend and playing partner, Charles Howell III Charles Gordon Howell III (born June 20, 1979) is an American golfer.

Howell was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia, the home town of the Masters Tournament. He was a member of Augusta Country Club, which is adjacent to Amen Corner at Augusta National Golf Club.
, by two shots.

Woods is back and so is the streak. He has now won seven consecutive stroke-play events on the PGA Tour The PGA Tour is an organization that operates the USA's main professional golf tours. It is headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA. Its name is officially rendered in all caps as “PGA TOUR". .

``As far as how special seven is, you're in elite company,'' Woods said. ``There's only one person (Byron Nelson John Byron Nelson, Jr. (February 4 1912 – September 26 2006) was an American PGA Tour golfer between 1935 and 1946.

He and two other well known golfers of the time, Ben Hogan and Sam Snead, were born within 6 months of each other in 1912.
) that's ahead of you. You know, he's one of the greatest legends in the history of the game. To be in company like that with Mr. (Byron) Nelson and Mr. (Ben) Hogan up there as well, it's pretty special to be in that kind of company.''

Nelson, who died last year, won a record 11 consecutive tournaments.

Woods won his 55th PGA Tour event and will play in Dubai, where his jet was headed Sunday evening, this week before returning to his home in Florida.

He was noncommittal on whether he would put his streak on the line at the Nissan Open The Northern Trust Open, formally known as the Nissan Open and originally known as the Los Angeles Open, is a regular golf tournament on the PGA Tour. It is played annually in February in Pacific Palisades, California. , where he's winless in ninetour appearances.

It was clear Sunday that even with the layoff, Woods hadn't missed a beat. Though he hit into seven bunkers in his final round, Woods made some typically great recovery shots.

Playing in the second-to-last group with Howell, Woods made a 26-foot eagle putt on the ninth hole to move within one shot of Andrew Buckle Andrew Nicholas Buckle (24 September 1982) is an Australian professional golfer.

Buckle was born in Brisbane, Queensland. He has a promising amateur career, including two wins in the Boy's 15-17 division at the World Junior Golf Championships and one Australian Amateur
. Buckle, an Australian rookie, double-bogeyed the 12th hole and never recovered. He finished in a tie for fourth, four strokes back.

Rookie Brandt Snedeker Brandt Snedeker (born December 8, 1980) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour.

Snedeker was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended Montgomery Bell Academy and then Vanderbilt University, where he was a Kappa Alpha, and won the U.S.
finished third with a 1-under 71. Snedeker, who shared the lead after 54 holes and led after the first and second rounds, birdied the final hole with a 6-foot putt. It was a nice gift to the fans, who were pulling for him throughout the tournament. He received a standing ovation as he walked down the 18th fairway. After the round, he applauded the fans.

But once again, Snedeker couldn't find the fairway and lost a chance for his first tournament victory.

``It was a great learning experience for me,'' Snedeker said. ``I got to play behind Tiger Woods and watch him do what he does best. I can't thank the crowd enough for being behind me.''

Howell had a chance to eagle the 18th hole with a long putt but missed, and Woods made his putt to win it. Woods has won the Buick a record fourtimes.

In the span of 10 minutes, Woods went from two shots down to oneup when Jeff Quinney Jeffrey Michael Quinney (born November 17, 1978) is an American professional golfer.

Quinney was born in Eugene, Oregon. He had a successful amateur career, winning the U.S. Amateur Championship in 2000, and represented the USA in the Walker Cup in 2001.
, who led for a brief time, double-bogeyed the 13th hole.

Woods bogeyed the seventh hole, but that was his lone bogey over the last two rounds.

On the 18th, Woods' ball was in a hole in front of the green, but he made magic happen again with a nice flop shot to within three feet of the cup.

``(Caddie) Stevie (Williams) wanted me to ask for a ruling, see if it might be a sprinkler, just check it or not,'' Woods said. ``But it's not going to be in any sprinkler, it's just a hole, a bad lie. Somehow, we have to get it up-and-down and win the tournament somehow.''

Howell knew what would happen.

``Even those shots, he still gets it done,'' Howell said.

Woods made the putt, even though he didn't need it.

Howell played well and birdied the 12th, 13th and 15th holes to move to 13-under, one shot behind Woods. But Woods essentially won the tournament after a birdie on the 16th to move twostrokes up with two to play.

Woods finished Saturday's round with 11 consecutive pars and had two birdies on the back nine Sunday. Woods got into a rhythm early and birdied the first and fourth holes. He just missed a birdie putt on the par-3 third as well.

``(I was telling him), `Give me one,''' Howell said. ``He gives me that sheepish sheep·ish
