BUBBLY BARGAINS; Own-brand fizz beats big names in taste test.Byline: RUKI SAYID CHEAP supermarket fizz sparkled in a consumer taste test - while expensive Moet & Chandon fell flat. The luxury-label bubbly, which sells for pounds 28.88 a bottle, was humbled by seven own-label champagnes - including one for less than a tenner from budget store Aldi. Own-brand fizz from Sainbury's, Lidl, the Co-op, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, and Tesco also all fared better than market leader Moet, which came second from bottom in the taste test. A panel of experts from Which? sipped and rated 14 champagnes. The panel rated it "exceptional value" and "good quality". They said the supermarket's own-label fizz was almost as good as posh Veuve Clicquot which was the overall taste winner with 90% - but which costs almost twice as much.
