The U.S. Air Force selected Lockheed Martin as one of two industry teams to compete in the migration demonstration phase of the ISC2 program. The purpose of the ISC2 program is to migrate existing command and control systems into an interoperable system with new capabilities for the expanding role of space in warfare. The Lockheed Martin team has been involved with the development of the existing systems as well as those that will be integrated into the new one. The two teams selected to compete for ISC2 were each awarded a $2.5 million contract to demonstrate their proposals for the full program, which is valued at $1.5 billion over a 15-year term. Under the current schedule, one of the competing teams will be awarded the contract in September.
