BTG introduces TeraSEARCH imaging system.VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 1995--BTG, Inc., the information technology company, announced a new, full-text document imaging system capable of handling millions of pages of documents. BTG's system, TeraSEARCH, is designed for government and commercial clients that manage large volumes of documents. It improves records management, decreases document storage costs, and increases access to information. TeraSEARCH does not disrupt normal operations, demands no special knowledge or expertise on the part of the user, and requires no large increase in staffing. BTG's TeraSEARCH systems are offered on the company's GSA Schedule, making them easily available to Federal government customers. Federal agencies are among the largest users of document imaging and were early adopters of document and management techniques. TeraSEARCH is a fixed-price, pre-packaged "plug-and-play" system that includes all the hardware, software, integration, training and support required for large imaging projects. The TeraSEARCH system includes TeraCAPTURE for full-text scanning and Optical Character Recognition (OCR); TeraRETRIEVE for full-text indexing; TeraARCHIVE for text and image storage; and TeraSYSTEMS for combining the previous three into a total system that can scan, perform OCR, index, store, and retrieve documents. Brad Osborne, manager of BTG's Imaging Division, and TeraSEARCH also includes BTG's FastSCAN distributed-OCR technology for cost-effective, high-volume document conversion, and Excalibur Technologies' EFS(TM) with Adapative Pattern Recognition Processing for OCR fault tolerance. Osborne said that BTG developed a turn-key system when it became clear that most managers are more interested in results than technology. "They just want to be certain that the document imaging system they purchase will produce measurable results, including better records management, reduced storage space and cost, and faster access to critical information. TeraSEARCH is a total solution, sized to their document data requirements and requiring as little effort and resources as possible from the customer." BTG, listed on the NASDAQ National Market as BTGI, combines imaging technology with systems development, integration and engineering, the value-added reselling of hardware, software and integrated systems, and computer manufacturing.
