STRATFOR's Shredder software solves two extremely important problems: how to make encrypted files truly secure; and how to ensure that information deleted on your PC cannot be recovered.

While the final version of a file may be protected by encrypting it, the information contained in that file is not secure unless all copies have been systematically eliminated during the creation and deletion process. Shredder erases all files created and deleted by the application and the operating system--backup, temp, swap, print etc. A truly secure system for guaranteeing privacy of data requires an encryption The reversible transformation of data from the original (the plaintext) to a difficult-to-interpret format (the ciphertext) as a mechanism for protecting its confidentiality, integrity and sometimes its authenticity. Encryption uses an encryption algorithm and one or more encryption keys.  program to lock up the final copy of the document and STRATFOR's Shredder software to make certain all unprotected data is gone.

Shredder provides more security for sensitive and confidential electronic information by turning deletes into multiple overwrites, making files totally unrecoverable. Shredder's file monitoring program tracks copies of all files created and deleted by the application and operating system operating system (OS)
