CAN.) North America's fastest-growing provider of visual communications systems has changed its name to Canvas Visual Communications.

Formerly known as BT Visual Images in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and CBCI Telecom in Canada, Canvas Visual Communications manufactures, markets and services a comprehensive portfolio of general purpose and application-specific visual communications systems.

Steven Edwards, president of Canvas Visual Communications, made the announcement at a press conference at TeleCon XVI, the world's largest conference on videoconferencing A real time video session between two or more users or between two or more locations. Although the first videoconferencing was done with traditional analog TV and satellites, inhouse room systems became popular in the early 1980s after Compression Labs pioneered digitized video systems  and distance learning.

"The Canvas Visual Communications name reflects our sole corporate mission of providing visual communications solutions focused on the specific application needs of our customers," Edwards said. "We provide a combination of powerful, applications-based visualconferencing technology and unequaled customer service that has propelled our growth.

"The theme behind the name `Canvas' was designed to reflect `the Art of Applications'," explained Edwards, adding, "This theme will drive the company's positioning as `the visualconferencing applications company.' In much the same way an artist begins with a blank canvas and then creates a work of art, we create applications best suited for a particular vertical market."

Canvas Visual Communications used TeleCon XVI as a launch pad for its name change and its accelerated expansion in the United States. It hosted a number of events and activities throughout the conference in close partnerships with major exhibitors such as IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , Madge Networks Madge Networks NV. founded by Robert Madge and best known for its work with Token Ring, was a global leader and pioneer of high speed networking solutions in the mid 1990s, and also made significant contributions to technologies such as Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and Ethernet. , MCI (1) (Media Control Interface) A high-level programming interface from Microsoft and IBM for controlling multimedia devices. "Canvas Visual's debut at TeleCon XVI is a celebration "A Celebration" was a non-album single released by U2 between the October and War albums in 1982. It is probably better known for its B-side, "Trash, Trampoline and the Party Girl" (later shortened to "Party Girl"), which has become a fan favorite throughout the  of these important partnerships as much as it's a coming-out party."

Presenting one distinct identity to the U.S. and Canada, as well as the rest of the world, will simplify the company's worldwide marketing efforts. Canvas Visual Communications, which ranks among North America's five largest video communications providers, has 18 sales offices across the U.S. and Canada.
