), the world leader in Enterprise Reporting With the dramatic expansion of information technology, and the desire for increased competitiveness in corporations, there has been an increase in the use of computing power to produce unified reports which join different views of the enterprise in one place.  Applications, today announced British Telecommunications plc (BT) has deployed Actuate's Enterprise Reporting Application Platform. BT will use Actuate as its information delivery mechanism across its lines of business, consolidating its enterprise reporting onto a single framework.

Actuate's Enterprise Reporting Application Platform was chosen for its scalability and flexibility. The system will potentially be accessed by over 100,000 BT employees, as well as being used by partners and customers, and will underpin diverse business processes including project management, network reporting and customer services.

BT has worked with Actuate's platform for reporting in a limited capacity in its business groups for two years now, and this enterprise-wide rollout underlines the success of the technology. One way in which BT is using Actuate is to improve information delivery to customers by enabling all areas of the company to deal with a customer query in just one call. Departments that used to have to consult other lines of business in order to respond to customer calls can now access the information themselves.

"Previously, a customer would contact the specific part of BT it was dealing with about any service problems, but it would be another part of BT that had access to the relevant information," said Gareth Williams Gareth Williams may be:

"Because information we are permitted to share is now available across the entire enterprise, every part of BT can answer customer network queries without communicating with another line of business. Cross group calls have reduced by almost 70% and customer queries can now be dealt with quickly and effectively."

Actuate makes near real-time reports securely available over the Internet, strengthening partner relationships and enabling better customer service for their customers.

"Large organizations with diverse operations often operate as discrete stand-alone entities, with separate pools of information," said Pete Cittadini, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and President of Actuate Corporation. "The benefits of consolidating business intelligence are well recognized. BT is now reaping those benefits, and is able to pass them on to its customers."

Cittadini went on to add, "Actuate is an expert at enabling its customers to develop Enterprise Reporting Applications that pull data from disparate sources and make information accessible to every target user in the format that they prefer. It is in this way that we deliver 100% adoption of critical business information to enable organizations to achieve breakthrough corporate performance."
