SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 2003

BT Expands Netcool(R) Deployment to Add Service Quality Management

to its Enterprise Environment

Micromuse Inc. (Nasdaq: MUSE), the leading provider of service and business assurance software, today announced that BT Computing computing - computer  Partners has deployed Micromuse's Netcool(R)/Service Level Agreement Manager (Netcool(R)/SLA Manager(TM)).

BT Computing Partners designs, builds and operates BT's computing capability and provides IT solutions for BT customers. Focused on ensuring that customers get the best use and value from their IT assets and investment, BT's IT operations group is one of the largest in Europe, with a geographical coverage that mirrors that of BT.

BT Computing Partners deployed the Netcool/SLA Manager solution to help IT operations teams monitor the impact of IT performance on services and business availability, as well as customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in realtime. This information helps IT staff respond appropriately to potential risks before customer service or streams of revenue are compromised.

"BT Computing Partners supports all BT's business functions, from internal processes such as payroll to customer-facing services such as the helpdesk. Maintaining the highest levels of service across these many different business-critical functions is key, regardless of whether the customer is external or internal," said Con Blackett, Technical Architect for Intelligent Systems Management, BT Computing Partners. "By integrating Netcool/SLA Manager with our existing Netcool solution, our operations teams can access an end-to-end view of the IT infrastructure and relate the performance of the myriad devices in that infrastructure to the status of business services. Furthermore, the Netcool/SLA Manager is capable of indicating service degradation to the second, which means that our operations teams can immediately prioritize pri·or·i·tize

and address service-affecting faults before the customer is impacted."

Complementing existing Netcool solutions, BT Computing Partners deployed the Netcool/SLA Manager in its Sheffield-based Network Operations Center See NOC.

It then builds service views by linking IT resources to services and those services to SLAs, so operations staff can monitor and manage services from a centralized cen·tral·ize

"BT Computing Partners is one of Micromuse's first customers and their continued investment reinforces Netcool's recognition as the de facto standard Hardware or software that is widely used, but not endorsed by a standards organization. Contrast with de jure standard.

"With Netcool/SLA Manager, BT Computing Partners are taking a revolutionary approach to IT management by providing IT staff with a realtime view of faults on the infrastructure in relation to the impact on the business.
