"Like many types of communication, the fax market is utilizing the Internet as the communications protocol Hardware and software standards that govern data transmission between computers. The term "protocol" is very generic and is used for hundreds of different communications methods. A protocol may define the packet structure of the data transmitted or the control commands that manage the ," said David Bialer, general manager of BSQUARE. "Through strategic alliances with industry leading Internet fax providers, like JFAX.COM (1) (Computer Output Microfilm) Creating microfilm or microfiche from the computer. A COM machine receives print-image output from the computer either online or via tape or disk and creates a film image of each page.  and NetMoves, we've incorporated Internet faxing into the new version of bFax Pro. Not only does the user receive the cost savings of an Internet connection over a standard telephone or cellular phone line, but they can also now receive faxes even when the machine is off. For PC Companion and other intelligent computing device users, bFax Pro 5.0 represents a significant step forward in mobile faxing."

New features in bFax Pro enhance use, save time and cost

bFax Pro 5.0 enables users to send and receive faxes from a Handheld or Palm-size PC anywhere, at any time. The new version makes it easier than ever to send or receive a fax while mobile through the incorporation of new Internet See Web 2.0 and Internet2.  faxing features. Through Internet faxing, telephone connection costs are reduced, document delivery is confirmable, and the need to have the PC Companion turned on to receive a fax is eliminated.

The new Internet faxing capabilities in bFAX Pro 5.0 are made possible through new alliances with JFAX and NetMoves, two companies providing Internet faxing services. By dialing into a local phone number provided by JFAX and NetMoves instead of the direct fax number, users can potentially reduce long distance telephone charges. Additionally, users can receive faxes on a special phone number assigned by NetMoves or JFAX.COM. Once a fax is received, it is accessible to the bFax Pro user via e-mail. bFax Pro's tie-in with NetMoves and JFAX.COM ensures that PC Companion device users can now access received faxes from their e-mail whenever they connect.

"When we looked at providing Internet fax capabilities to the user community of Windows CE-based PC Companions, BSQUARE stood out as the natural choice for a strategic alliance," said Jaye Muller, founder and co-chairman of JFAX.COM. "We look forward to providing the ease of Internet faxing to customers in partnership with BSQUARE."

"BSQUARE's bFax Pro product is a clear leader in mobile faxing for the Windows CE market," said Deborah Tallman, Netmoves' Product Manager. "As the clear leader in internet fax solutions for corporate customers, we're a natural and logical extension of their award-winning service."

The new bFax Pro 5.0 also includes another key feature: support for inking. Using a stylus stylus: see pen.
