BSI and Broadcast Computers Help Rebuild Afghanistan; Automation Software Provided to Radio Kabul by Broadcast Software International and Broadcast Computers.

EUGENE, Ore.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--April 10, 2002

Broadcast Software International (BSI BSI - British Standards Institute ) and Broadcast Computers (UK) today announced that they have teamed up to supply computer software for the first radio stations to go on the air in Afghanistan since the war on terrorism Terrorist acts and the threat of Terrorism have occupied the various law enforcement agencies in the U.S. government for many years. The Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996, as amended by the usa patriot act  began.

The initial phase of the project is being undertaken by the UK's BBC BBC
 in full British Broadcasting Corp.

Reg Butcher, from the BBC, said: "The development and rebuild of Afghanistan media has great potential. Simian is their first exposure to computer-based play out and scheduling software."

"Access to the Internet for software downloads and updates will be near impossible in Kabul, so the inherent reliability of Simian was a key consideration," adds Broadcast Computers' Gavin Lawrence. "Having the ability to move a hardware key between machines in case of computer failure was an added bonus."

In continuing service to the BBC, BSI and Broadcast Computers will provide four additional Simian systems for new BBC World Service
