Berkeley Software Design Berkeley Software Design Inc. was a corporation which developed, sold licences to, and supported BSD/OS (previously known as BSD/386), a commercial and partially proprietary variant of the BSD Unix operating system for PC compatible computer systems.  Inc. (BSDi) today announced Java(TM) 2 Standard Edition version 1.2 for BSD (Berkeley Software Distribution) The software distribution facility of the Computer Systems Research Group (CSRG) of the University of California at Berkeley.  platforms, including BSDi Internet Server, BSD/OS, and FreeBSD.

The free beta versions of the Java 2 Update for BSDi Internet Super Server 4.1 and BSD/OS 4.1 are available to BSDi customers for immediate download at www.bsdi.com. BSDi will also provide the Java 2 technology for FreeBSD. Java 2 enables users to run Java applications in addition to popular BSDi Internet Server, BSD/OS, FreeBSD, and Linux applications.
