BRUV JUSTICE; Lawyer takes brother to court in pounds 1.25m row over firm and property: EXCLUSIVE.

Byline: NORMAN SILVESTER

A TOP lawyer has taken his brother to court in a battle over who owns their lucrative practice.

For more than 15 years Stephen Grady, 47, and brother Gerald, 52, jointly represented some of Scotland's most notorious criminals, including Jamie 'The Iceman' Stevenson.

They worked together at offices at St Enoch St Enoch may refer to:

  • St Enoch Centre - a shopping centre in Glasgow, Scotland
  • St Enoch railway station - a mainline railway terminal in Glasgow, Scotland between 1876 and 1966.
 Square in Glasgow.

But they fell out last year and Stephen left and moved into other offices which they owned and set up a rival firm.

Since then, the pair have barely spoken and they only communicate through letters from their own lawyers.

Now, they have gone to court over who owns the firm and property worth an estimated pounds 1.25million.

Last week, Gerald unsuccessfully applied for an order at Glasgow Sheriff Court Glasgow Sheriff Court is the main Court in Glasgow. It is located in the Gorbals area of the city and is the busiest court in Europe. [1]

One is in Newton Mearns Coordinates:

Assets Gerald had claimed the homes are part of the assets of the firm and should not be sold until all other matters are resolved.

He also tried to remove Stephen from his offices at St Enoch Square, which he says is owned by the firm.

One Glasgow lawyer said: "They haven't got on for years. It was like Cain and Abel Cain and Abel

."

The court battle is further complicated by the fact that a third office is tied up in the brothers' joint pension plan.

Each brother has a 50 per cent share of the firm.

Since the split, Gerald has taken over the affairs of Jamie Stevenson, who is serving 12 years for money laundering The process of taking the proceeds of criminal activity and making them appear legal.

 offences.

Yesterday, a spokesman for the brothers claimed the court action had all been a big mistake.

He added: "A simple technical understanding, in respect of a business transaction between Stephen and Gerald, led to a court action being erroneously raised.

"This has now ceased and the matter has been resolved amicably."
