BRUSH FIRE BATTLED IN CANYON.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - A fast-moving brush fire burned more than 100 acres in Bouquet Canyon Saturday afternoon, but firefighters and aircraft crews were able to keep the blaze from damaging homes or buildings, authorities said.

Rodriguez said erratic winds fueled the blaze, but estimated that, as the evening brought cooler temperatures, firefighters could have it extinguished after dark.

The hilly area is home to ranch animals and horses, but no injuries or structural damage were reported.
