as the 12th-ranked Bruins matched their largest rally in school history, overcoming a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to stun Washington State 44-41 in overtime Saturday in front of 35,117 at Martin Stadium.

Drew's overtime heroics offset a career-high 260 yards rushing by Washington State's Jerome Harrison Jerome Harrison (born in February 26, 1983) is an American football running back for the National Football League's Cleveland Browns. Harrison played college football at Washington State University, where he transferred after two years at Pasadena City College. . And it was made possible by Drew Olson's superb evening.

to a leaping Marcus Everett in the corner of the end zone with 44 seconds left to cap an 11-play, 96-yard drive, and pull the Bruins even at 38-38.

Olson completed 31 of 43 for a career-high 338 yards, including 6 of 7 for 71 yards on the final drive of regulation.

``This is hard on the heart doing these comebacks,'' said Drew, who finished with 109 yards on 29 carries. ``Your heart goes bad after a while. It's never easy. Victories are never easy, and this just shows you how hard it is.''

UCLA (6-0, 3-0 Pac-10) became bowl eligible, moved into a tie with USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  atop the league standings, and could move into the top 10 when the national polls are released today. Washington State (3-3, 0-3) has lost three straight.

``What an effort,'' UCLA coach Karl Dorrell Karl Dorrell (born December 18, 1963 in Alameda, California) is the first black head coach in the history of the UCLA Bruins college football team, a position he took on December 18, 2002.  said. ``A lot of heart on this football team, a lot of fortitude. The guys just believe they can win all the time. To do that on the road, in this kind of environment, loud stadium and everybody's against you but probably a thousand fans, that was fun to see.

``I might have a heart attack one of these days. But I'll tell you what, if I have to win 'em all like this, I'll take it every time. What a great win, a great comeback. What a great day for UCLA football.''

After UCLA held Washington State to Loren Langley's 37-yard field goal to start overtime, Drew carried four times for 19 yards. His 4-yard run took the Bruins inside the 1-yard line, and his de-helmeting plunge one play later sparked a wild celebration along the UCLA sideline.

It was the Bruins' first win at Martin Stadium since 1993, and ended a four-game losing streak to the Cougars.

``We fought,'' UCLA defensive lineman Justin Hickman Justin Hickman (born July 20, 1985 in El Paso, Texas) is an American football defensive end with the Washington Redskins. He played collegiately at the University of California at Los Angeles.  said. ``This team is built on heart. You can see our heart the last three games. We came out here and showed it again. If people didn't know (about UCLA's resiliency), they do know. That's all I can say. We're fighters, and we fight all day.''

As was the case two weeks ago against Washington and last week against California - Olson's first two fourth-quarter come-from-behind wins - the Bruins were dismal in the first half.

Harrison, who blistered the Bruins for 247 yards and three touchdowns in an upset win last season, scored twice (57 and 21 yards), but had just 78 yards after halftime.

Because of Harrison's start, UCLA trailed 21-0 after the first play of the second quarter, were behind 28-7 midway through the second and fell behind 38-21 when Cougars quarterback Alex Brink Alex Brink (June 2, 1985- ) is a 6-foot-3, 207 pound senior quarterback at Washington State. Through his junior campaign, Brink has completed 57.3 percent of his passes for 7,095 yards. He has thrown 50 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. His quarterback efficiency rating is 131.78.  scored on a 4-yard bootleg with 23 seconds left in the third.

``This happens to us a lot,'' Cougars receiver Jason Hill said. ``(UCLA) is tough. They're ranked there for a reason.''

Then came the fourth quarter, which UCLA dominated. Harrison, who ran through seams and darted past defenders, was held to five yards on four carries in the fourth. Brink, who was 19 of 33 for 169 yards, was 3 of 8 for 26 yards in the last quarter, when the Cougars managed just two first downs and 47 yards of offense.

Olson started the comeback with a 9-yard touchdown pass to tight end Marcedes Lewis Marcedes Alexis Lewis (born May 19, 1984 in Los Alamitos, California) is an American football tight end who plays for the National Football League Jacksonville Jaguars. He was drafted from UCLA as the 28th pick in the 2006 NFL Draft.  28 seconds into the fourth quarter as UCLA pulled within 38-28. Justin Medlock Justin Charles "J-Med" Medlock Born October 23, 1983 in Fremont, California is a free agent American football kicker. He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs and played only one regular season game for the team.  added 36-yard field with 9:56 remaining in regulation to make it 38-31 before Olson took over on his own 4-yard line with 4:52 to play.

``What can you say?'' said Lewis, who had two catches on the 96-yard drive. ``We're not going to give up, and as long as we don't shoot ourselves in the first half, we should be blowing teams out.''
