basketball team can't hit a new low, how about this:

Branch West 92, UCLA 67.

OK, so it's only an exhibition game, but any optimism about this team should disappear as quickly as the Bruins' No. 14 ranking.

The loss Wednesday was the Bruins' worst in the history of Pauley Pavilion Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion, informally and commonly known as Pauley Pavilion, is an indoor arena located on the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles, California. It is home to the UCLA Bruins men's and women's basketball teams. The men's and women's volleyball teams also play here. .

``There's not much to say,'' UCLA captain Jason Kapono Jason Alan Kapono (born February 2 1981 in Long Beach, California) is an American professional basketball player in the NBA, currently with the Toronto Raptors.[1] His previous team was the Miami Heat in 2006-07.  said. ``Even a blind man can see what happened.''

The Bruins, who hadn't lost an exhibition game in 10 years, trailed by 16 points at halftime and by as many as 31 late in the game. They played defense as if they were waiting for a bus. The motion offense became one pass and shoot, and then there was the rebounding: they were beaten on the boards 45-24.

This against a team of former college no-names - Nate Pondexter led Branch West with 21 points and 12 rebounds - that came together Oct. 27 for a seven-game tour that would pay them $1,000 apiece. They earned a $25 bonus for the victory.

Branch West had beaten only Lamar in its previous four games and was coming off a 24-point loss to No. 12 Mississippi State, which was playing without its best player, Mario Austin Mario Trevon Austin (born February 26 1982, in Livingston, Alabama) is an American professional basketball player. ``I've been through a lot of games,'' said UCLA coach Steve Lavin Steve Lavin (born September 4,1964), a San Francisco, California native is a former college basketball coach and current ABC and ESPN TV analyst. As UCLA head basketball coach from 1996-2003, Lavin compiled a record of 145-78. , asked whether this was his most embarrassing loss. ``We just didn't play well. We have to get ready for EA Sports (next Wednesday).''
