But their locker room greaseboard never lies. It is the window to their conscience.

Saturday afternoon at Oregon was no exception. Assistant coach Steve Lavin Steve Lavin (born September 4,1964), a San Francisco, California native is a former college basketball coach and current ABC and ESPN TV analyst. As UCLA head basketball coach from 1996-2003, Lavin compiled a record of 145-78.  scribbled "March is Our Month" on the board, and the players eagerly agreed.

"All the preseason stuff is over now. This really is our time of the year," sophomore Kris Johnson said after a riveting, 77-71 comeback victory.

"It's time It's Time was a successful political campaign run by the Australian Labor Party (ALP) under Gough Whitlam at the 1972 election in Australia.  wins, and hope to improve to 2-0 this month against Washington on Thursday. A victory clinches the Pacific-10 title outright.

No player better embodies the March theme than sophomore guard Tony Bailey. He opened March '95 with a then-season high 24 points against USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code. , and he closed it with 26 in a West Regional final victory over Connecticut.

In all, Bailey averaged 14.2 points that month - opposed to 9.4 points in all other months as a freshman.

He entered this March in a 27-of-88 shooting slump, but against Oregon made 7 of 14 shots and hit the game-winning basket.

"Coach (Jim) Harrick said it was my month, and I believe him," he said.

Owning the league: UCLA's sophomore class is 30-4 in conference play.

High and lows: It has been a tough two weeks for junior forward Charles O'Bannon Charles Edward O'Bannon (born February 22 1975 in Lakewood, California) is an American professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins, where he was a star small forward/shooting guard, and a starter on the school's 1995 NCAA Championship team. . First, he hit the game-winning shot to beat USC on his 21st birthday. Then he was benched for 24 minutes against Duke for violating team rules. (Harrick hinted the violation was related to his birthday.)

Then O'Bannon was elbowed in the nose at Oregon State and missed 10 crucial minutes in the second half. "I got hit right on the tip, and I thought it was broken," he said.

His misfortune continued Saturday at Oregon. He made two 3-point shots and converted a three-point play to keep the Bruins within range midway through the second half. But he was on the bench for most of UCLA's 24-5 game-turning surge.

"I thought fatigue was setting in, so I wanted to rest him for a minute," Harrick said.

"I was going to put him in for Bailey, but Bailey made a steal and a layup, so I waited. Then we got our run going, and I didn't want to change anything. But Charles understands."
