BRS Media's Web-Radio Division Reports a Steady Number of Stations Still Webcasting.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 5, 2001

BRS BRS - Big Red Switch. This abbreviation is fairly common on-line.  Media's Web-Radio (www.web-radio.fm), the most comprehensive directory of stations broadcasting on the Net, released their latest statistics today at The NAB Radio Show. Their numbers indicate that, despite ongoing developments from high profile broadcasters, a steady number of radio stations continue broadcasting on the Net 24/7.

The number of radio webcasters on the Internet has held steady, maintaining the milestone mark of more than five thousand (5000). Currently 5153 radio stations "broadcast" their signal on the Net; up from 4058 stations a year ago. The current number includes those radio stations that have suspended their online streaming due to the AFTRA AFTRA American Federation of Television & Radio Artists  Recorded Commercials Contract and ongoing issues with regards to record companies performance royalty fees. While little more than half of the radio webcasters are U.S. or Canadian based, the healthiest growth is now coming from International broadcasters.
