Among those honored were Mitch and Kyle McMullen, who assisted in raising a total of $291,836 for this year's fund-raiser. These funds were raised over a two-month period during the months of September and October.

In addition to their fund-raising efforts, the McMullen Brothers conducted a community-wide educational campaign teaching the community about cancerous blood diseases.

Mitch and Kyle McMullen worked to assist in raising these much-needed funds with a community carwash, pie-throwing contest, wine tasting event, and the sales of specifically designated Newhall Coffee Roasting Co. coffees under the banner of Coffee For A Cure, according to Clare Cameron, Man & Woman of the Year event coordinator.

Today, the society supports research, patient services, public and professional education, advocacy and community services.

``The McMullen Brothers are truly exceptional people with superb community outreach and fund-raising skills,'' said Cameron. ``Their efforts, the efforts of their employees, and the efforts of the community of Santa Clarita help the society advance its mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.''

The McMullen Brothers raise money in honor of their brother, Corey McMullen, who died of leukemia in 1987 at the age of 21.
