THEY scratched their knees together as boys, shared teenage secrets - and went to war together.

The Lewis twins did everything at the double, both in the playground and the killing fields.

Michael and Kevin, 24, have just returned from Afghanistan where they were posted with their regiment the Royal Logistics Corps.

They spent six months side by side at the British Army's main Afghanistan base at Sangin, in Helmand province.

The lads' proud parents Michael and Angela, who also have two daughters, Helen, 35, and Debbie, 29, have told of their daily pride and agony waiting to hear their sons are safe and well.

The family have lived through the brothers' postings to Afghanistan and Basra in Iraq in 2002.

When they're back I'll take them for a pint and if they want to talk they well."Michael and Kevin continue a proud family tradition in the services. Their grandfather Ken Lewis, 81, is an ex-Royal Marine. Michael Snr, who now works with the Durham Cadet force, has rallied for troops who come home wounded, by raising money for a special centre to care for them. More than 200 people turned out to support the cause at a fundraising bash at Leam Lane Working Men's Club Working Men's Clubs are a formally organized type of private social club (Also see C&IU). They were initially founded in the nineteenth century in industrial areas of Great Britain, particularly the North of England with the aim of providing recreation and education for working  in Felling on Thursday.
