BROKEN WINDOWS VANDALS DAMAGE 4 CARS IN SPREE.Byline: Amy Raisin Darvish Staff Writer CANYON COUNTRY - Mark Roble left home for work Wednesday morning to discover his car's windshield and side window had been smashed overnight, one of four cars parked on a Canyon Country street to suffer the same fate, authorities said. Two Toyota Corollas, an Acura Integra and a Mercedes Benz, all parked under a freeway overpass on Jakes Way, were smashed and battered by vandals sometime late Tuesday or early Wednesday. ``I saw that (other damaged) car first, then I saw a second one,'' Roble said. ``By the time I got to my car and saw (the windows) shattered, I can't say I was too surprised.'' Nothing was missing from Roble's white Toyota, which was parked just down the street from his apartment complex. As a deputy from the Santa Clarita sheriff's station filled out a report nearby, Roble collected some CDs and books from his car. ``I'd be able to see the point if they actually did take something, but nothing's missing,'' Roble said. ``I'm thinking it was probably a bunch of kids.'' Of the four cars that were vandalized, only the Acura had been burglarized - the owner said his Sony car stereo was removed. Resident Lynette Walton said she was driving her daughter to school at about 7 a.m. Wednesday when the child pointed to a car with shattered windows. Moments later, Walton passed her husband's Mercedes and noticed the passenger window was in shards on the ground. ``When I saw a car that wasn't even mine (in that condition), it made me mad,'' Walton said. ``And then I saw my husband's. We haven't noticed any vandalism problems around here. My husband sometimes parks under here because of the sprinklers - he doesn't like the water stains.'' Neither Walton nor Roble said they fear for their safety but agreed they will think twice before parking their cars on the street again. The sheriff's deputy at the scene said the deputies who work night shifts would be alerted about the vandalism and would likely increase their patrols of the area. Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call the Santa Clarita sheriff's station at (661) 255-1121.
