BRODIE EXPLORATION EXPLORES SULFUR DEPOSIT IN NEVADA
HOUSTON, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Brodie Exploration Corp. a Houston-

based oil and gas exploration and production company, announced to shareholders today that it is participating with Garnet Resources Corp. in exploring for a sulfur deposit in Nevada. Brodie has a 5 percent interest in the project.
Garnet, like many larger companies, concentrates on exploration projects outside the United States, but the 1,200 acre sulfur prospect area in Nevada caught their interest because it contains significant quantities of sulfur on the surface, according to Brodie Exploration Chairman Joe E. Guyer, of Houston. The geology is analogous, said Guyer, to the Rustler Springs Mine in West Texas operated by Duvall Sulfur Co., a subsidiary of Pennzoil. Rustler Springs contained over 40 million tons of elemental sulfur.
In addition to the exploration and potential development of the Nevada sulfur project, Brodie's expansion strategy calls for staying domestic and concentrating on acquisition of producing oil and gas properties. To assist in acquiring and financing projects the company has engaged Van De Graaff Management Inc. of Greenwich, Conn., and Robert D. Arnold, president of InterVest Inc. in New York.
"What makes Brodie Exploration unique," said Arnold, "is that it has assembled a strong management team with extensive experience and contacts in the industry. Their ability to critically analyze projects becoming available due to the streamlining of domestic operations by large companies and liquidations by small companies and select key acquisitions will benefit the company in attracting investors to the projects."
The Brodie management team includes Verle K. Downey, president, formerly senior vice president of Anadarko Petroleum Corp., Joe E. Guyer, chairman, formerly vice president and director of Great Basins Petroleum Corp., Charles W. Hatten, director, formerly president and director of Great Basins Petroleum Corp., Murray C. McKinnon, director, and currently president of American Energy Capital Corp., previously executive vice president of Pan Canadian Petroleum Ltd., and Bert L. Waggoner, advisory director, formerly chief reservoir engineer and manager of acquisitions of Conoco.
