Brodeur got his second shutout in three games and broke his team record for wins in a season by stopping 25 shots as the Devils beat the struggling Ducks 3-0.

Brodeur didn't have much hard work in recording his 38th win and eighth shutout of the season, but he came up big against Selanne. The Finnish star had six shots, the last coming in the closing seconds.

``That was great,'' Brodeur said of his one-on-ones with Selanne. ``It's a challenge every time you meet one of the best players in the league and have a chance to go one-on-one. It's a confidence boost when you're able to stop them. You just don't want to see them too often.''

Selanne said he didn't have much of a chance on his first shot because the puck was rolling, but he credited Brodeur with making a good stop on the second one.

``There is no question he is one of the best goaltenders in the league,'' Selanne said after the Ducks lost for the eighth time in nine games. ``In my papers he's the second best to Dominik Hasek. When those goalies are hot it's hard to score against them.''

Rookie Krzysztof Oliwa Krzysztof Oliwa (born April 12, 1973 in Tychy, Poland) is a former professional ice hockey player. He played as a left winger in the National Hockey League. Playing career , Scott Niedermayer Robert Scott Niedermayer (born August 31, 1973, in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian ice hockey defenceman, who is currently suspended by the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League.  and Brian Rolston scored as the Devils got back on track after their 13-game unbeaten streak was snapped by Montreal on Saturday.

``To bounce back was really important for our confidence,'' Brodeur said after his 30th career shutout. ``That's the kind of statement we want to make as a team. We played well and scored the goals from guys who usually don't. That was good to see.''

Oliwa gave Brodeur the only goal he would need by scoring on a great setup from Sergei Brylin 5:08 after the opening faceoff.
