BROCTON BLOW TOP-SPOT HOPE; MIDLAND COMBINATION.


BROCTON missed their chance to go top after a 2-2 draw with Cadbury Athletic at Silkmore Lane.

Cadbury's Adam Ainge looked to have given the visitors an early lead, only to see his opener disallowed, but Chris Jones made amends to put Athletic in front on 43 minutes.

Jones sent in a cross that caught the post and went in past Brocton's Mike Shelper.

Gary Fife was instrumental in putting the Badgers back on level pegging, providing a through ball for Lee Scott
Lee Scott is also the name of a British Member of Parliament.

 to slot past the advancing keeper in the 59th minute.

Denied Brocton went close on 64 minutes when Fife lobbed the goalkeeper only for Cadbury's Greg Ellard to clear off the line.

Cadbury took the lead for the second time on 74 minutes as Ainge followed up a parry off Shelper, who had denied a strike from Cordell Jones.

Fife equalised for the Badgers, driving a left-foot shot into the corner of the Cadbury goal in the 84th minute.

 2-1. Pountney set up Pershore's opener with a through ball finding Nathan Jones to net from six yards in the 20th minute.

Vale then hit the post before Nathan Thompson restored parity for the visitors from a cross by John Leach early in the second half.

Ben Smith created the opportunity for Pountney to put the points Pershore's way with seven minutes remaining. Dave Stewart was sent off for JKS moments later.

Hayes despatched Meir KA 2-0 at home with strikes from Chris Deakin and Alan Haycock.

Deakin struck the early blow following up a lob over the keeper to make sure on 10 minutes.

Haycock then doubled the score deep into injury time following a solo run from Ben Hazeley.
