International passenger airline based in London. In 1936 British Airways Ltd. was founded through the merger of three smaller airlines.
 are cutting their staff food subsidies in a move that will save pounds 2.7million a year.

The airline insisted they could no longer afford to fully finance a perk perk 1

 that costs the firm pounds 6.5million a year.

BA also revealed there would be "modest and proportionate" price rises in staff food from next month.

The firm's Raghbir Pattar said: "BA will continue to subsidise Verb 1. subsidise - secure the assistance of by granting a subsidy, as of nations or military forces

 food and beverages provision for colleagues but to a lesser degree."

The move is part of a huge cost-cutting drive by BA, which includes thousands of job losses. Talks between the firm and unions on pay, jobs and working arrangements are no closer to agreement after months of discussion.
