BRITISH AIRWAYS OPENS $1.1 MILLION NEW LOUNGE AT DULLES AIRPORT
WASHINGTON, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- British Airways Chairman, Lord King, today opens a new $1.1 million passenger lounge at Dulles International Airport.
"The new lounge will offer the most modern standard of luxury for our premium passengers," said Lord King. "This facility accommodates 114 passengers and is only a short 75 foot walk to the gate, permitting maximum time for comfort in the lounge.
"The lounge, which is more than twice the size of the carrier's previous quarters, features a wide range of the latest technology business services for our most frequent flyers," the chairman continued.
There also are two private VIP suites, adjacent to the lounge, that have been designed especially for visiting and departing dignitaries.
British Airways operates twice daily wide body services between Dulles and London Heathrow Airport, as well as three Concorde flights per week.
"Washington, D.C. is now the second most important gateway in the U.S. after New York in terms of frequency of flights," Lord King continued. "We have served the Washington/Baltimore metroplex area for some 30 years and it has become a major success story for British Airways.
"It also is the third largest British Airways market in the U.S. in terms of revenue generation and seat availability after New York and Los Angeles.
"With our 17 services weekly, British Airways offers passengers from the Washington area connections in London to 105 cities and 57 countries around the world."
British Airways subsonic wide-body flights to London depart each evening at 6 p.m. and 8:55 p.m. arriving at 6:25 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. respectively the following morning. Westbound flights depart London Heathrow at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. arriving back at Dulles at 4:15 p.m. and 7:10 p.m., the same afternoon.
London-bound supersonic Concorde flights depart each Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 9:45 a.m. and arrive at 6:45 p.m. Return Concorde services to Dulles operate each Monday, Thursday and Saturday, leaving London Heathrow at 5:45 p.m. and arriving at 5:05 p.m.
Further information and reservations for any British Airways flight worldwide is available from the downtown Washington, D.C. sales office at 1830 K Street, N.W., local travel agents, or by calling the airline at its toll-free number, 1-800-AIRWAYS.
