BRITANNIA ORDERS MORE RB211-POWERED BOEING 757s

RESTON, Va., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Britannia Airways has placed orders for an additional seven Boeing 757 airliners powered by Rolls- Royce RB211-535E4 engines.
Britannia, the world's largest charter operator, will buy five aircraft, with the remaining two being leased from International Lease Finance Corp. of Los Angeles. The value of the new business to Rolls-Royce is $64 million.
The airliners will be phased into Britannia's fleet over the next year or so, making a total of 19 RB211-535E4-powered aircraft. The Luton, England-based carrier had already announced plans to increase its number of Boeing 757s from five to 12 during this year.
Rolls-Royce will provide a complete repair and overhaul service for Britannia's RB211 engines. The contract was signed last December.
Today's announcement emphasizes the dominance of the 40,100- pounds-of-thrust Rolls-Royce engine in the Boeing 757 market. A total of 80 percent of the twinjet's operators have chosen the RB211.
Rolls-Royce, through its Aerospace and Industrial Power Groups, is a world leader in gas turbine engines for aviation, marine and industrial use; power generation; and oil and gas industry products.
