The victims were named locally as Kesha Wizzart, 18, who appeared on Young Stars In Their Eyes in 2004, hermother Beverley Samuels, 36, and brother Freddie, 13.

Its first premises was a house in Withy Grove, Manchester.  and Freddie is believed to have learning difficulties.

Friends and neighbours spoke of their shock at the killings, which were discovered at around 7pm on Thursday.

Kesha, who dreamed of a singing career, was 15 when she sang on the children's version of the ITV (1) See interactive TV.

Although she did not win, her voice impressed judges.

Superintendent Paul Savill spoke to waiting reporters outside Longsight police station earlier yesterday and said detectives were following "strong lines of inquiry".

A member of the public alerted police after spotting the body of a woman at the house on Thelwall Avenue around 7pm last night.

Officers entered the premises and discovered the other two bodies.

It is believed Mrs Samuels separated from the children's father, also called Fred.

Neighbours told how computer engineer Mr Wizzart helped break the news to other relatives as they arrived at the property late last night.

There was no answer from the door at his home on Chevington Drive, Stockport. It was believed he was being comforted by friends and family.

Neighbour Jamie Smyth, 21, said relatives gathered at the house late last night after hearing the news.

She said: "I saw the children's dad pacing up and down the road outside the house.

"Other relatives would arrive and you could hear them cry out and burst into tears when they were told exactly what happened.

"It was heartbreaking to hear."

Pensioner PENSIONER. One who is supported by an allowance at the will of another. It is more usually applied to him who receives an annuity or pension from the government.  Margaret FitzGerald said: "Little Fred used to play with my grandson Sean all the time.

"He was in and out of my house. I would give him biscuits and sweets and he was Manchester Unitedmad.

"I can't believe it. He was such a nice little fellow.

"He went to a special school and the bus used to pick him up every morning.

"He played with all the children in the street on his bike. I have been crying all night. It's hard to believe when it happens on your own doorstep. They were a nice family, never any trouble to anyone."

The Afro-Caribbean family are thought to have lived at the house for around 15 years.
