BRITAIN: Shock over schoolgirl heroin victim.


COMMUNITY leaders and drug education groups last night expressed shock at news an 11-year-old girl collapsed at school after taking heroin.

The girl was taken to hospital on Wednesday but is understood to be recovering.

She was reported to have admitted buying pounds 10 bags of the class A drug outside a shopping centre in Pollok, south Glosgow.

The girl told doctors she had been smoking heroin for more than two months.

Strathclyde Police Strathclyde Police is the police force for the Scottish council areas of Argyll and Bute, City of Glasgow, East Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, North Ayrshire North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, South Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire.  and Glasgow City Council have launched separate investigations into the case, which has shocked locals and shoppers at the centre where the girl claims to have bought the drugs.

Speaking outside the Pollok Centre, Marguerita O'Neill, a community health worker, added: "I know there are drugs in every scheme (estate) but this is horrifying.

"She was only 11, it terrifies the life out of me."

The local Labour MP, Ian Davidson Ian Davidson can refer to different people:

, said the case underlined the need not to lose sight of low-level dealers while pursuing the Mr Bigs.

Scotland's deputy justice minister, Hugh Henry Hugh Henry (b. 12 February 1952, Glasgow) is a Scottish Labour politician and Member of the Scottish Parliament for Paisley South since 1999.

He was appointed Deputy Minister for Health and Community Care in the Scottish Executive in 2001, and moved to become Deputy Minister
, added: "Everyone is shocked when they hear about such a young person's life being put at risk."
