BRITAIN: Mother mourns partner and three children killed in blaze.


THE mother of three children killed in an arson attack on their home attended a special church service yesterday to pray for them.

Amanda Carter's daughters, Samantha and Patricia, her son, Marcus, and her partner, Roderick Hine, died late on Thursday when their semi-detached house in Cheddleton, Staffordshire, became engulfed in flames.

Ms Carter, supported by relatives and friends, joined a 200-strong congregation at St Edward the Confessor Edward the Confessor, d. 1066, king of the English (1042–66), son of Æthelred the Unready and his Norman wife, Emma. In his sermon, vicar of Cheddleton, Rev Martin Leigh urged the community "to reach out to one another" as it attempted to come to terms with the tragedy.

Local authority building inspectors were examining the fire-stricken building, in Hillside Road, to give Staffordshire Police the go-ahead for forensic tests.
