BRITAIN: Man arrested after Oxford academic is found murdered.


POLICE hunting the killer of an academic murdered in her flat were last night granted permission to continue questioning a 42-year-old man.

Officers were given a further 24 hours to hold the man, who was arrested on Saturday at a property in Faringdon, Oxfordshire, in connection with the murder of Dr Barbara Johnston.

It is understood the man was arrested after his name came up during the course of the investigation.

But he is not thought to have been a direct associate of Dr Johnston's.

The couple, from Walsall in the West Midlands, had been unable to contact her and grew concerned.
